I.E Irodov Problems in General Physics For IIT JEE Advanced Review

Igor Yevgenyevich Irodov was a Russian Physicist known for his book "Problems In General Physics". The book has a standard set of problems recommended for preparation for International Physics Olympiad. It has about 1900 subjective questions that bring conceptual clarity which is required for JEE type exams.
Each Chapter opens up with summary of principal formulas for review. The book has Six parts
  1. Mechanics
  2. Thermodynamics and molecular physics
  3. Electrodynamics
  4. Oscillations and waves
  5. Optics
  6. Atomic and nuclear physics
Of the six sections only two sections viz. Mechanics and Electrodynamics are useful for students preparing for JEE. As the two topics require crystal clear concepts problems from Irodov help a lot. Firstly, They will improve your concepts. Secondly, You will be boosted up with confidence once you have solved the book. Because there is no other book higher than Irodov for preparation of JEE.

Before attempting the questions it is suggested that you take an introductory course in calculus. Knowledge of Integration and differentiation is required before attempting the questions without which you wouldn't be able to do much. For students studying in class 11 who don't have any idea about calculus but are encountered by random problems that use it. It becomes a major problem especially while solving Irodov. However you must know that once you've passed through class 12th you will find that only basic knowledge was required for implementation of calculus in physics and you couldn't done it then too. In most coaching institutes teachers give a sneak peek into the calculus which further creates a fear of it. The trailer seems to be a scary one. Only when you see the full movie you realize that it was a piece of cake.

You must note that few problems in irodov are not JEE relevant. For Engineering entrance you must focus on the paper pattern and the syllabus strictly. Deviating from the syllabus is a waste of time. I hereby list the problems that are not JEE relevant. You must not waste your time on them

Solutions to I.E. Irodov

Solutions by Abhay Kumar Singh . The book comes in two volumes and includes solutions of all problems of Irodov. The Solutions are explanatory and easy to understand. The solutions are very helpful in saving time and Understanding alternative approach to solving.
